It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Like a typical Purple, Berryblossom is a kind, sweet dragon. As her parents' eldest daughter, she is learning the ins and outs of their court and the dos and don'ts of ruling a kingdom. She genuinely tries to act as a young princess should, but she sometimes has issues staying quiet and still when necessary, because of her Whiptail father. Her family is always loving and patient with her though, and she is particularly close to her father, a "daddy's girl", as some might say, because he understands what she's going through. He himself was born a commoner, who lived as an orphan and a thief for most of his life. But that all changed when he went on an unexpected adventure during which he helped rescue, and then fell in love with her and her siblings' mother, the kingdom's formerly missing princess.
