Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Like the dragons of her breed, Amser is surprisingly shiny, with scales that appear immaculate no matter how much she has scuffed them. Her smooth pelt of gleaming scales makes almost a perfect mirror, and as a result of this Amser will often find herself surrounded by the vainest dragons in the cave, staring at her desperately in order to catch a glimpse of their reflection, or to adjust a flower that is daintily perched on their head. Amser loathes those self-absorbed dragons who see her as an object instead of someone with a personality, and will frequently try to shake them off by rubbing herself in mud, but her skin is just so smooth that not even dirt or grime can grip onto it. Amser can't even curl up in her nest and night without waking up to find a small crowd tiptoeing around her, gazing at her devotedly. The problem has got so extreme that the Leo Clan now has to place a guard around her sleeping quarters, just to allow poor Amser to get a good night's sleep.
