Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

No one's quite certain how or why Metaldance ended up in the cave. The resident sorceress, after all, has quite a strict policy regarding the daughters of her festive dragons, yammering some confusing babble about how she wants her part of the lineage on TOP so all the lady holidays' babies have to be blood swapped and blah blah blah. This has led some to believe the dragon was given residence due to oversight or forgetfulness rather than honest intent. Whatever the case might be, Metaldance is very glad to have stayed, and her parents are very happy she remained in the vicinity as well. The whole family can often be seen in rapid motion come the holidays, singing in concert as they go about stringing up decorations and preparing the festivity's meals.
