Magma Dragons are capable of withstanding the intense temperatures of their element. They live in volcanic regions, their bodies coated in the red hot magma which clings to their scales. They must leave the lava fields in order to hunt, although they require surprisingly little food to sustain their lumbering mass.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tiamat, the third of the Cyr clan, spends much of her time in the caves where the hatchlings grow. Her enormous bulk and the heat radiating from her magma-crusted scales keep the youngest members of the clan safe and warm. She sleeps for days at a time and speaks little, but loves and is well loved by all. When she does speak, all listen. She is an Elder of the clan, providing guidance, wisdom and clarity.

In the summer when she is not needed in the caves, she returns to a den she dug out of a sulfur vent, where she basks in the magma and replenishes the thick magma coating that protects her from the cold of winter.
