Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nordigene is a jealous dragoness. She has her eyes set on Mismagielle, but he is both already the mate of Recolove and in a semi-illicit relationship with Qooti. She isn't stupid though; and if a avatar of destruction can't break Mismagielle's relationship, a gold like herself stands no chance. She spends her time plotting a way into the heart of her dream-male, or perhaps a way to get Recolove to stop loving him. She has tried asking Qooti for help, but only got the advice to ask Recolove to borrow him for a season, as she does. This is not good enough for Nordigene.

The consoling part of the current set-up is that all the local dragonslayer-wannabes go after the more overtly dangerous dragons and let Nordigene keep her scales.
