Floret Wyverns are an elegant breed, named for the flowerlike mane and tail each individual possesses. They project small fields of magic around themselves that calm those in the field’s proximity, for a short while replacing anxiety and anger with peace-of-mind. Florets are strikingly wise; they often share their knowledge of the world with whomever is willing to listen and learn. They are very faithful to those close to them, and are especially devoted to their partners and young. It is said that the lasting friendship of a Floret is one of the highest testaments to one’s true character.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shinsen'na regularly visits volcanic regions, to pick up ashes and volcanic soil to use in his family's gardens. Shin rather likes the smoky smell and insists that fruits taste better when they're from trees grown with some ashes sprinkled over the soil. Whenever the weather prevents him from traveling, Shin instead lights a small fire over wood to create his own ashes. There's something strangely poetic, Shin says, about a destructive force like fire producing something that can give life to growing plants.
