Originating from a single species that thrived in ancient times, Xenowyrms have become an incredibly diverse breed whose appearances vary depending on their habitats. Each Xenowyrm subspecies is heavily reliant on the power of different types of mana, making them powerful magic users. Pyros are easily the heaviest of all Xenowyrm subspecies and they use their weight to their advantage. If scorching their foes with flames doesn’t finish them off, Pyros will use the weight of their bodies for sheer crushing power. They create their lairs solely in volcanic regions, where lava and billowing flames are the land’s most prominent features.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Chelicera is fiery and grouchy, and she goes out of her way to lay scorn on others. Others warn newcomers that she does whatever she wants and threatens to burn or flatten anyone who criticizes her, so she ought to be avoided. She gets annoyed when someone says her name wrong, so many folks deliberately call her Cheely-Kara or Chi-Lice-Rah or any other creative mispronunciation. The only dragon who genuinely likes her and regularly approaches her without fear or contempt is this wimpy pink fellow who sings a lot and doesn't appear to be a native denizen of this territory. He insists that there's not a mean scute on Chelicera's body and that all the negative things other dragons say is just super unkind and unjustified, and they just have to try to get to know her. Maybe he's nuts. Chelicera seems to like him back and has even been seen giving some of her jewels to him, so maybe he has her under mind control, forcing her to surrender her belongings. Maybe they're both nuts.
