Geode Dragons are closely related to Stone dragons. They are covered in a hard stone-like material as well as beautiful crystal. Their wings are entirely useless for flight, but they help attract mates. The dragons with the most brilliant and colorful crystals are more likely to mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The son of the Geode dragon, Crystal Nuria, and Sunstone dragon, Samson Nuria, Orkens was given to the human girl, Flight, as a hatchling by her friend and fellow dragon nurturer, Ember Nuria. Growing up on the edge of the Lake of Elgar among his new brothers and sisters (other hatchlings and dragons that Flight cared for), Orkens spent most of his time exploring the Lake's borders with his favorite companion, the Daydream dragon named Syari. On one unfortunate incident, Syari's influence as a Daydream dragon caused Orkens to fall into the Lake of Elgar. Due to the hatchling's inability to swim, he quickly sunk to the bottom. Fortunately Fyren of the West, a Water dragon, spotted the hatchling and quickly saved him, bringing him back to a panicked Flight and Syari. Since then, Orkens has stayed away from the Lake of Elgar, though he  has remained close to Syari. He sometimes travels up to the tallest Mountain of Elgar, where he visits his mother, Crystal Nuria.
