Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Timekeeper is the scribe of Kaini's clan. He writes the scroll in the dragon language and keeps track of every dragon, hatchling and egg. As such, he is a very talented artist, painting the pictures of every dragon on the scroll. Kaini sometimes catches him drawing on the cave walls, leaving huge murals on the stone; beautifully painted landscapes with dragons dominating the sky, breathing fire or showing off their claws.

Timekeeper is very shy about it, not letting Kaini tell the other dragons who painted them. She respectfully keeps his secret, but won't leave the talented dragon alone about it.
