Ice Dragons are fierce predators who hunt using their extremely cold breath. The breath of an ice dragon can freeze its prey solid in seconds. The body of an ice dragon is so cold that icicles will form along its skin no matter the outside temperature.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Rhewi was hatched as an egg by Arian, forming a close mental bond between the two. As a hatchling, Rhewi had hard, constant training in magic from her mentor, Ia, who wanted her to become the leader of the trio she was in. The training seemed to pay off, as Rhewi's careful and skilled summoning technique clearly excelled over Arwein's slapdash and Gwres' uncontrolled techniques. Curious of the unknown, Rhewi pored through books and scrolls about the legendary dragon she attempted to summon, until she stumbled into the myths and legends section. Amazed, she read the ancient stories, marveling about how her ancestors filled in what they didn't know with tales of gods, heroes and demons, and her fascination with the unknown grew. When a dragon returned to the cave from traveling, she would beg to know more about their adventures, but never considering taking part in them herself, until one royal blue, named Gwaed, invited her to join him in his travels. She left and never looked back.
