Caligene Dragons have long been considered omens of death—reinforced by the skeletal markings on their bodies. They exert a malignant force on the world around them, causing other living things to slowly waste away in their presence. Caligenes favor the seasons of summer and autumn, disappearing entirely from the forests they inhabit during winter and spring. These malevolent dragons are physically weak, though this is countered by their natural stealthiness and alarming speed—enabling them to close in on large targets quickly and silently to create ambushes from which prey cannot escape.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tab1q is apparently a member of an organization he didn't know existed and had joined automagically when he was discovered by, he guesses, whoever runs the organization. As a child, he was handed over... no, abandoned by his mother to this group. The last thing he heard her say to the dragon who received him went something like, "I know you're looking for a "tabs" code and I have in mind that you already have a lot of "tab" codes. So I guess you don't have any use for this male". Apparently, they had use for him because here he is, and there goes his mom. Tab1q is a middle-ranked member of this organization, but he doesn't know how rankings work. He doesn't know how anything works. A solitary dragon, he does everything on his own, avoiding other dragons unless they are his planned meals, but he can easily remember future meeting dates and feels compelled to attend every one. Nothing of note happens at meetings, and he usually spends them hiding in the darkest corner he can find.
