Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dubh Nic Shoogle suffers the same fate as her brothers Paganach and Dubh Mac Shoogle: to be a fierce Black dragon among peaceful Guardians and proud Silvers. During her youth, her hot temper caused the necessary problems between herself and her cousins. Now that she is older and somewhat calmer, she has learned not to seize every opportunity to cause a fight. Instead she takes out her frustrations on the local wildlife, hunting and fishing being her favourite occupations.

Sometimes Dubh leaves her clan's territory to roam far and wide. Too feisty to attract a male in her own surroundings she searches elsewhere for a mate, but even hundreds of miles away from home she hasn't found one that can cope with her warlike nature. Fortunately she still has her family to fall back upon for basic companionship.
