Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Day's Color is something of a son to both of the other Glory Drakes in his cave, as he was found as a young hatchling with an extremely inquisitive and effervescent personality. The mature drakes began to raise him as their own. Even Night's Shine was seen getting close to him. Day's Color's favorite past time is flying in the sunlight; he is rarely seen on the ground when it is light outside. Even though he is young at heart and always pesters the other dragons, they enjoy his company anyway.
