Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has shiny fish-like scales and loves water.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

When their little golden munchkin finally hatched, Demonslayer and Mercedes were so proud. But they didn't know what to name their child. They stared and stared at the hatchling until one of the aunts suggested going to a priest like the humans do. Unfortunately, neither could leave the ocean, so they gave up the hatchling for adoption, then asked the new guardians to go to a priest. One dutifully did, carrying the hatchling in a thick sack of water. When they arrived to the nearest town, the new mom made a beeline towards the church. She plopped the cooing hatchling on a table and said, "Give this hatchling a name, please." Unfortunately, she didn't know that the humans here don't practice this sort of naming. The priest scratched his head and answered the inquiry politely. The dragon, perplexed at the kind of strange names humans give, thanked him and took the newly-named hatchling home.
