Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Crazed Nightmare is a insane Vampire dragon. At night, a dragon can often spot Crazed Nightmare pacing in small circles around certain trees, or attempting to tie his tail in a knot. None of HeroHorse's dragons have a clue how he ended up this way. The most popular theory is that Nightmare's brain was injured in the egg during the process of becoming a vampire, though there are many ideas about why he's insane, some stranger than others!

Crazed Nightmare dwells in a small cave near the top of a mountain in the mountain range referred to as "The Dragon's Teeth", living on a diet of rat blood. He is terribly unpredictable, sometimes gentle, sometimes sad and sometimes incredibly vicious. It was during one of his worst moods that Crazed Nightmare managed to bite a small egg and transform it into a vampire. Since then, he is kept under observation by various Soulpeace dragons and, when they're not around, the local wildlife.
