Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gaia is a timid and withdrawn lady who lives in cave 5(3B) in a fairly peaceful area. The biggest threat there is the spine bandit, a mysterious individual who breaks off the spines running along the necks, backs, and tails of dragons for seemingly no reason. It's said that the bandit grinds them up, and that's why the lost bits are seldom found. Since Gaia is a spineless person and seems secretive, some denizens have suspected that she might be the thief, stealing the spines of others due to envy. They've never found evidence, and neighbors say that the notion is preposterous: they know her, and there's no way she'd do such a thing. Gaia would help with the investigation, if she didn't dislike sniffing around other people's business or asking a lot of questions.
