Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Gold Tinsel Hatchling is no longer allowed near the scrolls, after so many promises that he wouldn't fool around with them. He doesn't even know how to write. He liked to find scrolls of big dragons and draw little pictures on them, which the adults later would wearily check and erase. The scrolls of the dragons he thought cowardly or foolish had scribbled on the margins, along with chicken scratch "writing". Happily for him, at least one white dragon thought his scroll was more interesting that way and kept the picture, and he's young enough that he doesn't get in too much trouble for his behavior.
