Script Dragons are named for the markings along their wings and sides that look almost like calligraphy. The patterns correspond to no known language, and are slightly different on every dragon. These dragons only develop the characteristic markings when they reach maturity, and they are fairly capable with magic once the patterns appear.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Saetu Bookwyrm's own personal cause is hatchlinghood literacy. She creates simplified versions of common hatchling's stories, complete with illustrations, and travels around reading them to hatchlings of all varieties. After each visit, Saetu leaves magically-reinforced copies of the stories so that the hatchlings can have their own book to enjoy.
