Pyralspite dragons are small, swift dragons that can breathe an intensely hot flame. They get their name from their resemblance to and affinity for garnets of the pyralspite family—they hoard such gems, preferring garnets that match their variant, and can tell the type of garnet from how it tastes. The red-violet variant is referred to as Almandine. Almandine Pyralspites are more aggressive than others of the same breed, and are very witty and love to mock or insult their opponents. They inhabit mountainous areas.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Extremely solitary and lonely, Yvetro lives in the deep depths of an uncharted mountainous territory. He is the only dragon in this area for hundreds of miles, sometimes thousands, and his days are so quiet one could hear a feather drop. But, while he ventured out here for uninterrupted solitude, which has its perks, there are times Yvetro wishes for the noises of intelligent beings, if just to remind himself he's alive. His kind is normally solitary, but the eerie silence of his home is something most have never experienced before.

In fact, the eons of silence he's lived in have had a negative effect on his voice. Not having anyone around to understand him for so long has left him almost unable to use telepathy. His telepathic speech towards intelligent beings is more akin to a newborn hatchling than an adult dragon. Yvetro doesn't know this however; but if someone were around to make him aware of that he'd break down in shame.
