Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Res'pyrior as a hatchling was kind of awkward. In the day, while the clan was working, he would sleep inside the caves and at night he would start screaming for no reason at all. And worst of all, some sort of weird connection between Res'pyrior and the color purple faded together. Whenever he sees something purple, he says, "Hey, nice purple (insert noun here)!" Plus, he wouldn't and still will not leave the other purple-colored dragons alone. Res'pyrior is rather hyperactive when around purple things, but is lazier when it's not. He doesn't like to breed, but likes to do it just for the heck of it, especially with purple females. Sherepta1 doesn't know why she picked up Res'pyrior's egg, all she knows now that one day his obsession for purple may become so protective that it's dangerous to the clan.
