Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Neiybyrio is a dragon with lots of pride. He is a loyal fighter that will fight to the death if he has to. He is swift and cunning, and he doesn't need to merge with other fighters in order to be tough. Neiybyrio is also a lover of eggs, and he'll take time to take care of them if he needs to. But ever since the Bc'alahey's Plate dragons's orders, Neiybyrio was forbidden to hunt alone on their land. It was a terrible sacrifice, but this dragon earned it. He was too good of a hunter to be there. But it wasn't long until his own clan said it was illegal for him to go out hunting by himself. Neiybyrio was very upset with this, but he knew it was the law.
