Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hooves is a very active Horse Dragon, often running about this way and that to burn off his seemingly endless supply of energy. He has a friendly demeanor and will readily accept playmates with a smile. He has an admittedly short attention span, getting easily bored with certain games and demanding a switch to something different. His frequent need for stimulation can make him difficult to get along with, but pairing him with equally energetic dragons seems to alleviate a lot of the problems. The one thing Hooves never gets bored of are the races that take place between his sister, Mare, and step-brother, Takumi. These races draw crowds around their home sanctuary. One day, Hooves wants to race his step-brother as well, hence why he insists so fervently on practicing his running everywhere he goes.
