Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

She had been alive for a very long time, and she had seen a great many things. Oases turned to sand and then back to water. Mountains ground to dirt only to be forged fresh and sharp. Friends who had fallen out of this world, but returned again in memories and new companions.

As she had seen all these things, she was not one to panic when things changed. Yet there was something about this change that greatly disturbed her. The wave of dark magic that had begun to run amok in the neighboring lands was no natural force, and the destruction it left would sow no new life in its place. Thus moved to stop it, she left her home of golden fields and swept out on broad wings, searching for the truth of the curse and the means by which it could be vanquished.
