Lumina Dragons received their names from their highly reflective scales, which—at times—seem to glow. They are vain, always strutting about and preening incessantly; if one of their scales has so much as a scratch or a defect, they’ll remove it. Luckily, their scales grow back quickly, and each new growth is more beautiful than the last. These narcissistic dragons live in small groups and prefer to surround themselves with beauty. The females guard their territory and eggs while the males search for vegetation to eat.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Her name was Emawielan, and he loved her more than any other thing the world could offer him. She was brilliant, beautiful, ethereal, capable of spinning legends that could spin the world. She was also mated to another. He tried to ignore this, to convince himself she saw more in him than a mere friend, but when she died of an accident he had still never heard a whisper of love for him.

Driven into insanity by the loss, the dragon sought to create through powerful magic the child they never had. Basing his spells on the stories Emawielan had created, he formed a child known as "Aura," and another being known as "Morganna" who would protect his daughter until she had finished awakening. But therein lay a dilemma: Morganna realized her reason to exist would cease when that day came. And so she began to take steps to ensure the birth would never occur, creating a dark magic known only as the Abominable Wave to ensure she would always have a purpose...
