Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

If a plague strikes a nearby village, or a traveler's encounter with a wild beast leaves them injured, before you know it Rangel will be there. His fiery wings avenge those who have been wronged, and he is sworn to protect those in need. While many respect and revere him for his actions, the more cynical note how his encompassing protection does not include those who have wronged, as the torrents of hatred and anger he feels towards them differ intensely from his nurturing attitude. Forgiveness has never been a strong feature for Rangel, yet his perseverance will lead him to chase enemies to the very ends of the earth. At first those he protected looked up to him, admired him and honored him, but the fluctuations of his temper soon terrorized them, fearing they would be the next victim of his wrath. To appease him they started to give him gifts of gold, treasure and jewels, and Rangel always accepts them, as he believes the gifts are signs of gratitude.
