Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite the heat of the desert, it loves to run around.

And look! It has gotten bigger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Sandlike is always thinking about "the greatest adventure" of her life and has a habit of disappearing somewhere for hours or maybe days. Her father stopped worrying after Sandlike demonstrated she was able to find her guardians after a few days without a problem. She always returns with something interesting to share and no hint of fear or worry except perhaps a feeling of loneliness. With Sandlike's enjoyment of searching for things and early development of some eerily good tracking skills, she'll probably be fine left on her own right now.
