Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It always seems to be hungry.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ticien was a "normal" hatchling, caring and sweet and fond of discussion about fair treatment. Then someone hit him with a bucket of some unpleasant magical stuff, possibly not by accident. He has always been the same. Normally, one would say someone has never been the same, but with Ticien, he has been exactly the same since he was struck. Decades later, the effects of the concussion have gone away, and his scar is almost invisible, but the rest of him hasn't changed at all. He talks about the same things all the time, sometimes repeating things thought-for-thought. He'll learn something new but forget it completely by the end of the day. He is not a hatchling in age, but he might as well be one.
