Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sika is a cold dragon. She cares very little for other living beings and has few attachments even among her own family. She was close with her twin sister until her sister was brutally murdered. After her sister's death, Sika closed herself off from others and pushed away anyone who tried to care for her. Sika is aware of her cold attitude and does not care. She feels that it is better to have no attachments and approach life rationally than to be blinded by affection.
