Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. This hatchling seems to be filled with a fell, inner flame.

And look! Its wings have grown, and it’s become rather vicious and wary of others of its kind.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Long ago, Ujif once tried to show off to a group of trouble-making adult dragons, only to end up breaking his wing. The injury was so severe that it would have only worsened as he grew, and so he was frozen with this permanent disability. Being trapped in adolescence, forever flightless, and a male in a matriarchal pack, Ujif's life didn't seem too welcoming to him. He usually follows his father Varblaze closely and relies on his protection, especially from the vicious females of Baroness Caliagrand's pack. He is very shy and nervous, and is especially self-conscious over his flightlessness, and so he often hides behind his father while the adults do the talking.
