Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has wings—but no hind legs—and it enjoys flying by the ocean.

And look! It has grown another set of wings. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Cheek Pouch has elastic cheeks, which is freaky on a dragon but kind of cute to certain humans, including Merchant Martin the self-proclaimed dragon tamer. Cheek Pouch is the only dragon he's "tamed", but the title is still technically true. The man knows little enough about dragons in general that he thought he discovered a new breed when he hatched the brine-smelling egg he found, and he doesn't even know if his dragon is male or female. He guesses female, and Cheek Pouch goes with it, having no intention to upset her beloved, kooky caretaker. While Cheek Pouch has never seen another blusang lindwurm, she's sure there are more if she travels to the coast. She will be on her own in a few years and is excited at the prospect, though she'll miss her hometown and puffing and pulling her cheeks at Martin.
