Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Dawn in Space wishes he weren't so shinily colored, as awesome as being a tinsel dragon sounds. His metallic scales are easily noticed and make him target for people who want to make clothing and trophies from his hide, and one has even tried to take his tongue. He cannot hunt because prey can spot him from a distance, and he can't see in the dark. Dawn has to rely on his friends for food, in exchange for humorous anecdotes he gathers while hanging around his motley clan.
