And look! Its fins and tail have gotten bigger, and you’ve moved it to a larger body of water to swim in. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Baby Squid loves the lake he lives in.

He is a young dragon, a hatchling. So he has a lot of energy and loves playing with other hatchlings. The youngsters are often seen splashing in the water. Baby Squid's favorite game involves jumping out of the water as high as possible. This game is the noisiest and the splashiest one they play!

Baby Squid can't wait to grow up and he wishes everyone would drop the "baby" from his name already. He feels quite grown up himself.
