Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it.

And look! It has grown wings and its scales have gained beautiful patterns. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

As a young hatchling who had not yet grown her wings, it was not the gleaming nebulas that caught A Star's eye, nor the twinkle of stars of the faint form of nearby planets over the horizon. For her, the draw to outer space took form in the slight ripple of a black hole, only viewable by the effect it had on the light surrounding it. This lead to A Star being late to grow her colourings, so distracted was she by the rip of space-time, and the patterns which blossomed on her hide all seemed to be dragged towards one point on her chest. Those with the gift of being observant would notice that every time she enters a room, the fire will start to dim, while her markings will start to glow ever so slightly, unnoticeable to the untrained eye. A Star has always been aware of this phenomenon happening, but has simply shrugged off any questioning, claiming she simply doesn't know. Few believe her, but none are willing to force her to reveal an answer they are too scared to know.
