Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Unsalted Kix's sleep cycle is half-a-day off, so she rises a little after midnight and goes to bed mid-afternoon, and has been that way since she was a wyrmling. This fits her lifestyle perfectly, however, as she works as a waitress at The Hole for the predawn shift, when nocturnal dragons come to the popular tavern for a pint or their suppers. She likes to tell outrageous tales, such as the saga of how a wizard who crashes into doorframes as often as running through the doorway managed to defeat a giant thousand-year-old lich that was about to destroy the universe, or the story of the chickens' schemes to take over Valkemare by force. Most of her sagas are even more egregious. Some individuals think Unsalted Kix's yarns are true, which she finds hilarious. So far as she knows, she's never told a real story in her life. She makes up ever more ridiculous stories just to see how far she can take these daydream believers.
