Considered heralds of ill fortune, Omen Wyrms are usually found in areas previously ravaged by disaster or strife, blending in amongst the foliage. Due to the unique appearance and texture of their bodies, they often pass as dead trees as they wait for unsuspecting prey. Their haunting cry—like that of a hollow-sounding horn—is a sure signal to run: it is always followed by the dragons’ furious wrath, which manifests in the form of fiery cascades. Escape from an Omen Wyrm is possible, however; it is said they will not dare follow their quarry across running water, no matter the cause of their vexation.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

The land of Ohm used to be desolate due to a disaster known by many names, but over time, visible life has gradually returned. The most notable of inhabitants is a band of omen wyrms led by Unmet. They're the reason humans and most dragons still avoid settling in Ohm. Some people have learned that they may safely traverse the region if they mimic the omens' behavior: roar, display aversion to moving water, and so on. This seemed to have begun when a lone human lit a torch, set her hair aflame, and howled insults, having accepted her impending death. Unmet, after watching her strange behavior for a while, freed her and ordered the other omens to retreat. He didn't give a reason, nor did the human ask for one before taking off. Whatever it is, be it vanity, curiosity, or something else, travelers who knowingly copy what these dragons do (and are decent enough at it) are allowed safe passage through their domain. There's even a saying: When in Ohm, do as the omens do.
