Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It always seems to be picking over its scales.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mandraak is the spoiled son of Wenzyl and acts every bit like it. If Mandraak demands something he better get it, else there will be screaming and carrying on all through the night and into the next morning much to the bane of the clan. He is henceforth lavishly decorated with golden jewelery and the finest of toys surround him, as well as many exotic pets that he's never given a second glance to. Wenzyl sees his son as a little messiah that can do absolutely no wrong but his mother knows better. Bitza used to have a much better handle on him when he was an only child, but when Amayan and Istophen came out of their eggs slowly she was overwhelmed and lost control of Mandraak and he became the terror he is today. While most of the other hatchlings have slowly been turned away from him, this spoiled brat still does have a few friends who he is able to play with, but a good portion of them really just weather his bossiness and temper to get at his toys.
