Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Blue Mistlegem lives in a cabin built by one of her housemates, named Hyperreality, who has a knack for construction and the ability to cast some powerful spells. She uses life magic to keep the gardens healthy and bright, and she sometimes assists in her housemate's invented-fantasy scheme. He has 20-some denizens under a fog of time and mind magic, who believe they're living in an ideal world devoid of problems, which is a good thing. Some folks outside the Hyperreality zone say it's not a good thing, and he and his helpers need to set them free to live in the real world. Blue Mistlegem disagrees with the naysayers, having seen the violence, hardship, and misery in some of the denizens' lives before they were brought in, so she believes protecting them and letting them be happy is the right action. Since she moved here, the total number of naysayers has decreased, maybe because a mistletoe dragon's presence lends credence to the idea that this pretend-fantasyland is good for people.
