Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

They never saw the individual again, and no one else has ever reported seeing someone of that description in the years that followed. The meanie kids in the community like stupid Jag and also stupid Bice would push him and tell him what a Fehler he is and that he won't amount to anything useful. He's been learning to sew and sculpt from neighbor Braincase, and excitingly, he learned that building dolls in the meanie kids' likenesses and making them kiss and sweet-talk other and other yucky grownup things instills fear and disgust in them, causing them to stay away from him. The adults just find this cute and funny, and they praise Fehler's artistic skill.
