Arcana Dragons are a rarely-encountered breed of dragon known for both their magical abilities, and their quirky, hardworking nature. These dragons have specialized organs for storing mana, and can produce varying effects from these reserves simply through instinct. However, they are also very intelligent dragons, and when raised around mages, or others of their own kind, almost invariably become obsessed with the study of magic. Arcanae are diligent in their efforts to discover as many uses for magic as possible, and while they will openly treat others to the fruits of their labor—especially others who share their interests—they will also use their knowledge and abilities to trick any creature that thinks it can take advantage of them.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Iridium Ore is smart and observant, but he takes a long time to act on ideas or put a plan into motion. Many dragons say that it's his biggest flaw. He doesn't just deliberate but dithers, and that demonstrates cowardice and lack of decisiveness and is the reason why he's considered unreliable. He does have scruples and does take sides in a conflict, but he dislikes openly declaring which side he's on until he's sure he's picked the winning one. Iridium Ore is surrounded by some ambitious dragons and lives in a land that is scarce in mana and is undergoing upheaval, so much more is expected of him than he feels he can contribute. He may not realize that if his circumstances were different... if he lived in quieter, more bountiful lands, such as Aquebecker or Grape or Mountain View, he would instead be praised for his cautiousness, thoughtfulness, and patience.
