Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

BlackSerpentine was raised by the dragon raisers of the Shadows Serpentine herd from an egg stolen from the dragon caves. He was trained as a fighter dragon by the owners of the Shadows herds in order to take advantage of his natural instinct as a fighter. He is not often used to fight however as the owners do not approve of using their dragons in violent ways. The training mostly serves as discipline for the dragon. His name is Black due to his coloration and his second name is Serpentine indicating which herd he belongs to within the Shadows herds.<br/>In the Shadows Serpentine herd, BlackSerpentine acts as a guardian for the rest of the dragons of the herd.
