Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

NachtenSerpentine is one of the dragons bred by the Shadows dragon breeders and both of her parents belong to the same herd as her. Like her father, she is a natural fighter at heart, but she was not trained as a fighting dragon. She is an accomplished offensive magic user and is often found outside at night looking for something to do. Her name Nachten is based on the German word for "night" because of her love for the night and her last name indicates she belongs to the Shadows Serpentine herd.<br/>While she is not trained for fighting, she does aid her father in protecting the herd as well as she can. Because of this, the owners occasionally have considered to train her as a fighting dragon.
