When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Majeeda is frequently chastised for not doing better things with her skills. The daughter of a magi, she was born with a good grasp on magic and only improved from there as she grew. Once a week, she will exit the water with tiny crystals and other implements in tow and put on a magic show for the children. Some are so excited to see her that they will wait at the lake's edge for her to appear. She's a one-woman daycare of sorts due to her ability to hold the attention of the youngsters, and after her shows, she keeps watch over them until their guardians arrive. The community's serious-minded dragons scoff at Majeeda for wasting her talents and mana on such frivolity. She knows that a handful of the hatchlings who visit her have strict and overbearing parents, neglectful parents, or no parents at all, so the magic shows and subsequent socialization time she holds are the highlight of the youngsters' week.
