Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Woodsy's two interests are eating utensils and growing beans, a pair of activities that typically take up all her free time. If any of the townsfolk is missing a bunch of chopsticks, spoons, and knives, she probably crept in during the night and ate them. Only a couple of humans have witnessed her eating utensils, while most others don't believe a dragon could have such an odd diet preference. Wood and metal don't provide adequate nutrition, which is why Woodsy also keeps a garden with many bean plants. The other dragons in the lair are bemused that she insists on eating growing beans; once they reach a certain size, they are considered "grown", and she refuses to put them in her mouth. Her job has nothing to do with eating utensils and beans, but those who work near her can't help but wonder about her hobbies.
