Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Explosion lives in fear of his older siblings. Having three older, female Hellfires as sisters, one can imagine how rough his life can be, especially when his cruel sister, Mare, sticks Arsen on him. To be fair, however, Explosion isn't exactly friendly himself. While he is a little more even-tempered compared to other Hellfires, he still maintains that vicious, aggressive behavior, as a means of defensive if anything else. His trust is incredibly hard to gain, if at all, though he does tend to stick close to his father, Adramalech, and is generally friendly with his brother, Foal. As with other Hellfires, Explosion is completely subservient to his elder sisters. Even the equally bullied, Apollyon, will take out her rage and pent-up aggression on him. Ultimately, Explosion puts up an aggressive front to protect himself and appear tough in front of his sisters. It's upsetting because neither Adramalech nor Equestria (their parents) bother to do anything, leaving Explosuon to suffer.
