Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Vasial speaks fluent legalese. She works as as a barrister in Nworset's government, using language as graceful and convoluted as her dances in an attempt to eliminate loopholes without infringing on innocent activities she hopes to keep legal. She signs documents she has worked on by tying one of her ribbons through a small hole in the signature page so "red ribbons" are often used as a shorthand for laws in Nworset, particularly among those who seek to circumvent those laws. Vasial is good at what she does, but not perfect. Those who break the spirit of a law while following the letter make her angry, but she has never acted violently upon that pent-up fury. There is little she can do other than try to refine and amend her loopholes out of existence.
