Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It often ventures outside at night to gaze upon the stars.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Astronomical Survey enjoys shirking responsibility and playing flag ringball. Usually, she does both at once. She's not very smart or brave or magical, and she believes she isn't good at anything except running and blocking, things she does as left defender in flag ringball. The adults have informed her that ringball is a child's game and she must grow out of it, and if that's true, she won't know what to do with her life later on. When she's older and expected to be a more productive member of her group, she hopes the only assignments she has involve running fast and blocking stuff.
