Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

While many gold dragons stay well clear of humans, Brynhildr is one of the few who will seek them out. She is a fine warrior who enjoys battle and delights in engaging in combat with strong opponents. Because of her golden scales there is no shortage of foes for her to fight, each one hoping to be the one who takes home a vast prize.

Since Brynhildr trains daily with the other warriors in the clan not one human has ever come close to defeating her. Her gentle parents worry that one day she will push her luck and not return home, so they often ask her friend Sapphire to watch over her.
