Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

God of Gold has a skin condition that means he sheds his golden scales much faster then the average dragon, especially as his itching hide forces him to scratch some of the looser scales free.

Many of the local villages know that if they hear a low rumbling sound, like the scrapping of metal in the nearby forests and then dare venture into them, they may come across a horde of his abandoned scales.  

This has resorted in a plethora of wealth in these villages and a protective attitude towards the nearby dragons. No one wants a travelling knight or bounty hunter to kill off such a prized source of income and sometimes the village men can be a little violent when warding off such people.
