Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kuroi-Menkoi is a very special dragon. Her name means "Black Beauty" in Japanese. She is the second daughter born to Shuzo and Emiko. She is best friends with Kuma-Gera and Ashinaga-Shigi. She is the first Black Dragon of her coloration to be born into the colony. She is a stunning beauty, with luminescent emerald eyes, gently curving obsidian horns and claws, and a luscious ebony hide. She is a very expressive dragon, with her face, tail, and ears often giving away her emotions. She loves telling stories, and she's very good at it. Changing her voice to suit the character and mood, flashing her wings. The children love her. She also loves swimming, and can often be found with a lily pad tucked behind her head frills, or occasionally Remy (the valley's human keeper) will make her a chain of flowers to wear. She met her mate, Kokuryuu while she was swimming. They love each other so much, and look forward to being together forever.
