Labradorite dragons are some of the most potent siphons of mana in Valkemare. Dragons and other magical creatures in close proximity to a Labradorite will weaken over time, and extended exposure may even be fatal. However, Labradorites have no control over this effect; any harm they may cause is almost always unintentional. In order to protect others from their draining, they make their homes in the labyrinthine depths of underground caves. Perhaps as a result of this seclusion, Labradorites are gracious hosts to the brave few who dare explore their dark caverns. Legends tell of how these curious dragons traded their sight for wisdom, and those who seek their guidance are richly rewarded with stories, advice, and the odd gemstone.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

A large, ornery desipis came into Xenophillus's cavern claiming to possess the most powerful mana-syphoning abilities ever. This irritated Xenophillus to the point where, simply to prove the desipis wrong, she took advantage of her own powers to destroy the offending individual. The desipis was strong, so the ordeal took longer than anticipated, but she managed to lead him into a crevice too tight for him to turn around in and caused a cave-in to block his retreat. She could still come and go through several skinny entrances, but the desipis had no way to escape. After a month of holding him hostage, she offered to let him go—provided he admit his syphoning skills were merely average. He refused. That desipis is the only death caused by Xenophillus's mana-draining that she doesn't regret.
